Karl is our Chief Expert based in the United Kingdom, from where he makes frequent trips back to Asia. He was born in Hong Kong, where he lived for twenty-five years. Totally, Karl has spent almost forty years in Asia.
A hotelier by training, he spent over twenty years in the industry before starting his own Management Consultancy firm in Hong Kong, assisting clients to perform more effectively, through improved processes, training and people management. Karl has acted as a ‘change agent' for a number of clients and organisations. He has also held a senior management position with a leading property management firm in Hong Kong, which focussed on the training and development of the 2,800 employees.
Karl is a Council Member of the Gerson Lehrman Group (
http://www.glgroup.com/) which is the global marketplace for expertise and he has been sharing his expertise with international clients for many years. Since 1998, the Gerson Lehrman Group technology-enabled platform for collaboration and consultation has helped the world's leading institutions find, engage, and manage experts across a broad range of industries and disciplines. This experience prompted Karl to launch his own technology-enabled platform for collaboration and consultation, namely
Asia Trade Experts.
His involvement with Vietnam began in 1994, acting as a business consultant/facilitator, exclusively focused on tourism and hotels projects. Through client demand, the business moved from tourism and hotels projects to almost every other sector including ventures in automobile production; insurance; pharmaceuticals; renewable energy; education and the health sector.
During the ten years that Karl lived in Vietnam, he established an investment advisory firm, a project management company and a property development group. Karl has contributed articles on Vietnam for Asia Times Online, the Asian Hotel & Catering Times, Vietnam Investment Review and Vietnam Economic Times.
